Dr. Mark Lomaga, MD, PhD, FRCPC, is a distinguished dermatologist renowned for his expertise and dedication to providing exemplary care at DermEdge®  dermatology clinic.

With a multifaceted background encompassing both medical and research realms, Dr. Lomaga brings a unique perspective to his practice, ensuring the highest standard of care for his patients.

A graduate of the University of Toronto Faculty of Medicine, Dr. Lomaga obtained his Doctor of Medicine degree, which was preceded by a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Immunology under the supervision of Dr. Tak Mak and in collaboration with scientists at Amgen. This doctoral work led to highly-cited publications elucidating the role of TRAF-6, a key protein which mediates signaling from the TNF receptor superfamily. Prior to obtaining his PhD, Dr. Lomaga completed his Bachelors degree in Pharmacy (top Honours standing) from the University of Toronto, giving him a solid foundation in Therapeutics. 

Dr. Lomaga completed his dermatology residency at the University of Toronto, where he trained under world-renowned experts in the field. While in residency, he was the recipient of numerous prestigious awards and scholarships for academic excellence and exemplary patient care. Dr. Lomaga was also selected by the residency program to serve as Co-Chief Resident. He is board-certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCPC), a testament to his expertise and commitment to excellence in dermatological practice.

Dr. Nisha Mistry is a Canadian and U.S. board-certified dermatologist.  

She completed her undergraduate degree at McGill University where she obtained a Bachelor of Science in Honours Biochemistry.  Dr. Mistry went on to graduate with honours from the University of Toronto Faculty of Medicine.  She subsequently trained at the Department of Dermatology and Skin Science at the University of British Columbia during which time she served as Chief Resident. 

As an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Toronto, Dr. Mistry is actively involved in medical student and resident teaching.  Dr. Mistry has multiple peer-reviewed publications and has presented at both national and international meetings.  She has served as both Principal and Sub-Investigator on a number of clinical trials advancing the development of novel therapeutic agents.  

She is an active member in good standing of both the Canadian Dermatology Association and American Academy of Dermatology.

Dr. Jiayi Hu is a Canadian board certified Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeon with a particular interest in surgical management of benign and malignant skin conditions.

He is a two time graduate from the University of Toronto (Bachelor of Science with Honours in Biochemistry and Pharmacology Double Major (2009) and Doctor of Medicine (2013)).  Dr. Hu subsequently trained at the Division of Plastic Surgery, McMaster University, during which time he served as Chief Resident.

Dr. Hu is passionate about medical research and has won numerous national and international awards. He also founded “Plastic Surgery Fellowship.org” (www.plasticsurgeryfellowship.org) to facilitate advanced plastic surgery training and education around the world, with over 5000 professional members in the network. Aside from North American recognitions, his work has been featured internationally by the European Journal of Plastic Surgery, the Chinese Society of Plastic Surgery and the International Confederation of Plastic Surgery Societies (ICOPLAST).

Finally, Dr. Hu is actively involved in mentorship of medical students and residents from across the country by founding www.mdconsultants.ca, a Canadian healthcare education and consulting company that cultivates a cohesive community of over 1000 current and future medical professionals. As a McMaster surgical alumnus, he has been the head instructor for suturing workshops for surgical residents across all disciplines since 2017.

Dr. Rayisa Hontscharuk is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario Faculty of Medicine. She completed her medical degree in 2012 and then went on to complete a five-year Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery Residency at the University of Toronto. Dr. Hontscharuk then went on to complete a Breast Reconstruction and Aesthetic Surgery Fellowship at Women’s College Hospital. She subsequently completed a Gender Confirmation Surgery Fellowship at Rush University Health Center (Chicago, IL) under the supervision of Dr. Loren Schechter.

In 2019, Dr. Hontscharuk became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Plastic Surgery. She has published many peer-reviewed journal articles, abstracts, book chapters and commentaries, as well as has attended and presented at several national medical conferences.

Prior to her medical training, Dr. Hontscharuk completed a Bachelor degree in Physical Education and Health at the University of Toronto and a Master of Science in Exercise Science at the University of Toronto.

During her Plastic Surgery training, Dr. Hontscharuk travelled to Ukraine as a team member of a Surgical Mission organized through the Canada Ukraine Foundation and Operation Rainbow. The team worked alongside Ukrainian doctors and nurses to perform complex reconstructive surgical procedures on victims of the Euromaidan movement and Vladimir Putin’s invasion into Eastern Ukraine.
