New Patient Information

How do I book an appointment at DermEdge?

To be seen by a dermatologist for a medical condition, you will need a referral from your family doctor or walk-in clinic doctor, as per Ontario Ministry of Health guidelines.

Have your referring licensed health care professional fax us the referral to our centralized fax number: (905) 274-9991.

We do not accept walk-in patients, nor do we accept emergency patients.

What happens after my physician refers me to DermEdge?

Once your referral is sent to our office, our office triages all referrals based on medical need, as indicated by the referring licensed health care professional.

If your appointment accepted by our office, then  our booking coordinator will be in touch with you to notify you of your appointment.  If your referral is marked as urgent, we will expedite your appointment.

For text notifications, please ensure that your referring doctor has your correct contact information (including cell phone number) for communications from our office.

Please be patient as referral processing times can take up to two weeks.

How do I prepare for my appointment?

Bring your valid health card and a list of your current medications.

Please plan to arrive 10 minutes before your scheduled appointment time. There is free on-site surface parking, however there may be up to a 5 minute walk from the parking lot to the clinic.

If you are late for your appointment, you may have to wait until the end of the doctor's shift or may have to reschedule to another day.

How long should I budget for my appointment?

We aim to give each patient the time they need to consult with their physician about their referred issue. While our doctors typically run on schedule, one can never predict the seriousness or complexity of earlier patient cases.

Your appointment wait time can vary from 5 minutes to 90 minutes. Please ensure that you take sufficient time off school or work to attend your appointment (including travel time).

What if I need to cancel or rebook my appointment?

We have an incredibly high demand for appointments, so we ask for at least 2 business days' notice.  It is likely that we will not have an available appointment during the same time period to reschedule. We will always give you the next available appointment.

Where we receive less than 2 business days’ notice, we will levy a rebooking fee made payable at the time of booking your next appointment for OHIP medical appointments with one of our dermatologists. For other practitioners at our clinic, varying no-show and last minute cancellation fees apply that will be discussed at the time of your booking.
