Board-Certified Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeon
Dr. Rayisa Hontscharuk is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario Faculty of Medicine. She completed her medical degree in 2012 and then went on to complete a five-year Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery Residency at the University of Toronto. Dr. Hontscharuk then went on to complete a Breast Reconstruction and Aesthetic Surgery Fellowship at Women’s College Hospital. She subsequently completed a Gender Confirmation Surgery Fellowship at Rush University Health Center (Chicago, IL) under the supervision of Dr. Loren Schechter.
In 2019, Dr. Hontscharuk became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Plastic Surgery. She has published many peer-reviewed journal articles, abstracts, book chapters and commentaries, as well as has attended and presented at several national medical conferences.
Prior to her medical training, Dr. Hontscharuk completed a Bachelor degree in Physical Education and Health at the University of Toronto and a Master of Science in Exercise Science at the University of Toronto.
During her Plastic Surgery training, Dr. Hontscharuk travelled to Ukraine as a team member of a Surgical Mission organized through the Canada Ukraine Foundation and Operation Rainbow. The team worked alongside Ukrainian doctors and nurses to perform complex reconstructive surgical procedures on victims of the Euromaidan movement and Vladimir Putin’s invasion into Eastern Ukraine.
